This and that...

Hearing this song is always soul stirring for me and Aaron Neville always makes me think of my dad.  I heard it last week and I've been singing it in my head since then.

I'm still thinking and journaling about what my word for 2011 will be.  I'm over the hump of being stumped and I feel the word starting to reveal itself.  Do you pick a word of the year?  What's your process to uncovering it?

Off for another full day of training the new studio staff.
Hope your day is full of CRAZY LOVE!

Talents.

If I could choose a talent, I'd sing.  I'd play piano and I'd sing.  And sing. And sing. And I'd write lyrics like this that make people say
--- yeap. me too.
---
I've got ideas that might make the paper some day.
I've got folded up maps showing where I'm gonna be.
I've got dreams that could sail a boat to the east.
And pages and pages and pages of drawings...
---
yeap. me too.

If they were up for picking in the picking line... what talent would be yours?

Hello brand new week.

For The Love of Lists: Lyrics

Songs have this amazing power to transport you. It could be an entire song or just a line that sends your mind racing back through time and space.

These get me every time.

Song/Artist:
Boston/ Augustana

Lyric:
I think I'll go to Boston, I think I'll start a new life.

Memory:
March 18, 2008. I did indeed.

Song/Artist:
Like A Virgin/ Madonna

Lyric:
The entire song!

Memory:
Red Fisher Price Boom box on my shoulder jamming out in our backyard like I had any clue what virgin meant.

This is around that same time. Lace headband ode to Madonna and I had the arm full of plastic bracelets too (though not in this photo).

Song/Artist:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow/ Israel Kamakawiwo'ole

Lyric:
Oh the whole thing, the way it sounds, the way it feels, the way I feel when I hear it. Oh just every word and every oooooo.

Memory:
Walking down the isle towards my love.

Song/Artist:
Red Red Wine/ UB40

Lyric:
Red, red wine you make me feel so fine, you keep me rocking all of the time.

Memory:
Had nothing to do with the lyrics at all. This song always takes me back in time to weekends on the road between mom and dad's house singing at the top of my lungs with Kayla.

What song did you think of the moment you started reading this post?
Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm off to San Francisco to spend the weekend with the lovely Leigh.

Darling, It's Alright

Found via Hrrrthrrr

The girl has got great taste in tunes. I always love her picks. She's right, this is a beautiful video! It's “A single-take live performance, edited with light.” My fave is the three spotlight dance at the end. It's perfect.

Hope your Wednesday is full of song and spotlight dancing!

Just Breathe

Have you heard the Pearl Jam song Just Breathe? The first time I heard it I was in the car, driving too fast, ear buds in and thinking about a million and one things that I needed to do that day. I pulled out my ear buds, turned up the radio, pulled over and sat and listened. It stopped me in my tracks, one of those songs that I felt I just needed to experience.

Hope it touches you too.
